Operations: Research & Development

The Research and Development team consists of scientists, foresters, engineers and marketers who continuously conduct research into the growing and processing of timber and the development of new products. Merensky constantly strives for better processing practices, benchmarking ourselves against international best practice and incorporating numerous quality and efficiency principles including ISO, LEAN and JIT. In addition to Eucalyptus and Pine, a number of alternative hardwood species have been planted on a trial basis on Merensky’s estates and in our nurseries, which are being carefully monitored.
